The African Elephant is the largest land mammal in the world! It is therefore natural that he reigns supreme in the savannah. What characterizes it is undoubtedly a huge trunk, big ears that he uses to cool, and huge tusks. The trunk is actually an extension of their lip and nose, allowing them both to communicate, to carry water and food to the mouth, and to pull and carry branches. Its tusks are composed of ivory and are in fact two teeth, used as a tool and as a defense in fighting. The Elephant lives in herds of about twenty individuals, and spends most of its time looking for food. It feeds mainly on leaves, bush branches or trees, fruits or bark. A symbol of wisdom, it is also renowned for its intelligence and memory, hence the expression "to have an elephant memory".
