Bertrand du Guesclin, nicknamed the Black Dogue of Brocéliande, is the eldest son of Robert II du Guesclin, lord of Motte-Broons and his wife Jeanne de Malesmains, lady of Sens. At a young age he is considered as the family's shame and must learn to prove himself. His strength and skill takes him to his 15th birthday to participate in jousting tournaments anonymously. He will defeat all his opponents before ending up against his own father. It is only by discovering his identity that his father, full of pride, undertakes to teach him, making him one of the best gunsmiths of his time.
